About the Artist
Penny paints intuitively, letting each work find its own path. Some begin as landscapes, others as figures, and many settle somewhere in between, where forms feel familiar yet just out of reach.
She is drawn to human presence—figures that hint at memory and emotion, never fully defined, inviting the viewer to step in and imagine their own story. Mood, atmosphere, and quiet tension are at the heart of her work, and she welcomes interpretation over explanation.
If a painting speaks to you, even without a clear reason why, then it has done exactly what it was meant to do.
A favourite quote from J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851)
“My business is to paint what I see,
not what I know is there.”
